Noi ragazzi in piazza per l’ambiente /Il report anche in inglese

Venerdì 15 marzo 2019: un milione e mezzo di studenti, compresi quelli italiani, è sceso nelle piazze per aderire allo sciopero globale per il clima organizzato dal movimento “FridaysForFutur” nato dall’esempio di una piccola ragazzina svedese di soli 16 anni, Greta Thunberg che, nel giro di pochi mesi, con un semplice sit-in davanti al Parlamento svedese è riuscita a far sentire la propria voce al mondo intero.
A questo sciopero mondiale per il futuro, il “Climate strike for future”, hanno aderito le scuole di più di 40 Paesi da tutto il mondo. Dopo un rapido scambio di opinioni e di articoli mostratici dalla nostra docente di Inglese Maria De Maio, la nostra classe, la IV S – articolazione “Biotecnologie Ambientali” – ha deciso che era importante soprattutto l’habitat nel quale vorremmo continuare a vivere, in armonia con la natura e con gli altri esseri viventi. Ed ecco che, a sostegno di questa manifestazione, la nostra classe ha raggiunto Piazza Garibaldi a Napoli e, insieme alle altre scuole, ha iniziato a marciare per le strade della città chiedendo al governo delle misure concrete per la tutela dell’ambiente e per il futuro delle nuove generazioni.
Non abbiamo ancora l’età per votare, eppure abbiamo deciso di far sentire forte la nostra voce; anche noi abbiamo voluto rispondere all’appello di Greta, perché “la strada per un mondo migliore passa attraverso le scelte individuali”. Tutto dovrebbe essere mirato ad un solo fine: arrestare l’avanzata dei mutamenti climatici; del resto solo tutelando l’ambiente in cui viviamo possiamo garantire la nostra sopravvivenza: la salvezza del mondo “è nelle nostre mani”.

On March 13th our English teacher, Maria De Maio, showed us some articles talking about a strike for the climate change promoted by a young Swedish girl, Greta Thunberg. The following day, after some message exchanges on our class group chat, we decided  and two days later we went to Naples to join the march. We felt it would have been an important experience for us, being an active part of one of the most global climate movement that students could ever participate in .
It all started when a little Swedish girl, Greta Thunberg, decided to skip school to strike in front of the Swedish Parlment on one of the last Friday of August. Since then the FridayForFuture has become the name of a green movement to protest against the damages inflicted to the enviroment.
Her action and her act had a global resonance.
In a few weeks her name was on the lips of the whole planet. She was becoming a global icon in the fight for climate.
A lot of students started to follow her and last week, the world saw the mobilization of one and a half million students all over the world.
Her face is now an icon of the fight for climate and a lot of people are now changing their mind on the climate problem.
She says that she wants us to have fear of the problems and not hope.
But she gave us hope and she keeps giving us hope…
On Friday 15th March there were almost fifteen thousand people in Naples , mostly teachers and students from many schools of the Campania region. We walked together through the streets of Naples holding up our banner with Greta’s proclaim ‘Skolstrejk för Klimatet’ written on it.
Our planet is the only resource we have, we don’t have a plan(et) B.
